CAMAC Dual 24 Bit Opto-Isolated Input Register Type OIR 230

Product Description

This single width CAMAC module consists of two 24 bit input registers with opto–isolated inputs. The logical interpretation of the 24 main input levels is set by a switch for each register which allows both positive and negative logical inputs. Two pairs of wires provide an input to generate a LAM on the Dataway to indicate new data has arrived. Two output signals each generate a pulse after a time delay to show the register has been ’Read’ by CAMAC command F0 and F2. Special logic ensues that during a CAMAC read, the data being read cannot be changed by an synchronous external input pulse.

Features

  • Single width.
  • Two sets of 24 bit Schmitt triggers.
  • Each input needs a 10mA drive signal.
  • All inputs can withstand +/–10v (+20mA –25mA) and +750v isolation.
  • Internal logic stops any data interaction while a ’Read’ or ’Write’ operation is taking place.
  • All strobe outputs can sink 10mA at 1v.
  • All strobe outputs can withstand +30v in the ’off’ state.
  • All outputs opto–isolated from the module.
  • Two switches allow both sets of 24 inputs to be inverted.
  • Two true or inverted opto–isolated LAM inputs which strobe data in.
  • Stretched N LED.

Accessory

It is well known that opto–isolated digital input units, such as the input part of this module, need external power for the opto–isolators, to preserve their integrity. We have developed an ’accessory’ for this, the KI–06 (or ’Klippon Interface’ for an 06 connector – 06 is our code for a 37–way Type D connector) which provides convenient terminals for that power, and can also be used with nominally 5V input units, such as this is, to increase the contact–wiping voltage to say 20V or more.

It can also be provided with LEDs to show the state of each line and the strobe, which can be very useful when debugging at the plant level. There is room for diodes, and for resistors for pull–up, range–changing or current–limiting, and the whole device fits securely on the appropriate Klippon terminal unit. The convenience of these facilities means that it is sometimes useful for output units too.
