Multiple Output DAC Type DAC 640V & 640I CAMAC

Product Description

This range of single width CAMAC modules provide a versatile selection of up to 16 programmable analog outputs, which may be plugged up to be either voltage or current outputs on the 640I version, or voltage only output on the 640V version. Each output has a 12 bit resolution, the DAC is programmed by a 16 word, 12 bit store, which may be written and read via the dataway. The analog output voltages are driven from 16 sample and hold circuits which are fed from a single DAC via a 16 way multiplexer, which continuously scans the memory updating the analog outputs. To alter the value of any channel a simple overwrite command is executed and after a delay of not more than 1.6mS the output is set to the new value.

Output Sockets

The front panel DAC output socket is a 37 way D type as standard or 16 single pole LEMO RA00250 on the ’L’ version.

The additional bit set digital outputs on the ’A’ version only use a 9 way D type socket.

Temperature

0 deg C to 45 deg C.
Forced are cooling is advised for operation above 30 deg C.

User Information

A single command allows all the outputs to be enabled (F26,A0+F25,A0) or disabled (F24,A0). On power–up all outputs are disabled, they are also disabled by Z.S2. As a special feature the current output may be linked so as to incorporate an offset to give 4 to 20mA with a genuine 12 bits of resolution on the 16mA between 4 and 20. Non–linearity +0.5 LSB referred to FS, and zero offset is +/–500uV max. The analog update time is 100uS min to 1.6mS max.

Data codes

Provision has been made so that data codes of all outputs may be selected by CAMBION links, the options are straight binary, 2’s compliment binary and off–set binary.

Optional Digital Data Outputs

Provision for 8 bit digital outputs has been made for control of devices like pen recorders on the ’A’ version only.
