VICB 8003 SHARC Industry-Pack Carrier Board
Product Description The VICB 8003 is a 6U (double height) VME board, which provides four Industry-Pack sites. The module can be configured using rear mounted transition cards to work with combinations of digital and analogue inputs and outputs. The module features hot-swap capability with auto power up and host interaction. An on-board FPGA allows full mapping of the IP board memory and I/O space.
This
board is fitted
with the ADSP21061 (1Mbit internal RAM) or 21062 (2Mbit internal RAM)
SHARC Processor, running at 33MHz with access to the peripherals listed
below and to the IP sites. IP interrupts can be mapped to the SHARC
processor and flag signals are in place for the SHARC and VME hosts to
communicate with each other.
1M
x 8 FLASH EPROM boot chip with the option of a second device.
The
second Flash EPROM is for stand-alone operation where the device boots
itself through the RS232 serial port listed below. 1M
x 8 dual-ported fast SRAM memory (option).
6
LVDS SHARC Links are brought out to front panel connectors (option). These
are bi-directional links with jumper selection on an individual basis as
either inputs or outputs. The double-stacked Micro-D connectors require a
double-width front panel to be fitted.
Two
SHARC high-speed serial ports on the front panel (option). 16550
RS232 front panel serial port (option). EZ-ICE
J-TAG port for testing.
Full
control and monitoring of the SHARC processor through registers in the
Xilinx.
Internal
SHARC RAM, external RAM and both Flash EPROM devices (if fitted) are fully
dual-ported to VME. Construction The unit is constructed to the VME64x standard, with EMC front panel, injector/ejector handles, guide pin and slot keying, static discharge protection, hot swap capability, geographical addressing, 5-row P1 and P2 connectors and 5-row P0 connector. Signal Path A rear-mounted transition card with four high-density 50-way [SCSI2] connectors accepts all I/O signals and provides any necessary signal conditioning. The signals connect to the main board according to the VME64x Greenspring pinout for IP module carriers . Additional Features etc. There is a TTL input on the front panel to control acquisition stop/start. A microswitch in one of the handles detects insertion/removal and a hot-swap controller powers the unit smoothly up and down without disturbing the rest of the system. Host interaction during insertion/removal is in accordance with the VME64x specification. There are four IP sites on the board addressable on an individual basis . Addressing and handling of these IP sites is programmable through base control and status registers, including address offsets and interrupt mapping. The unit supports addressing in A16/D32/D16/D08(E0), A24/D32/D16/D08(EO) and A32/D32/D16/D08(EO) modes The registers and memory can be read at any time where IP packs support arbitration. A separate set of registers control offset memory addressing of the SHARC memory areas, mapping of IP interrupts to the SHARC and SHARC control and status. The BOOT mode of the SHARC is controlled by jumper (EPROM, LINK or HOST). A further jumper completely write protects the SHARC memory and peripherals from the VME port for sustained operation during host processor failure. Versions
