VTB 8201 32-channel Analogue I/O Transition Board

  • VME64 extensions / Transition Board
  • Full EMC shielding and insertion/extraction handles
  • RP0 and RP2 connections
  • Handles 32 analogue I/O signals, four external triggers, four external clocks and provides optional filtering of all signals.
  • Four DC-DC converter sites allow isolated analogue front-end circuits to be powered externally
  • Two 50-way SCSI-2 sockets provide ease of connection to four groups of circuitry each with 8 analogue signals, trigger and clock.

Product Description

The VTB 8201 is a 6U (double height) VME rear I/O transition board, which provides connection to the 8002 Carrier Board. It optionally conditions and routes the signals from two 50-way SCSI sockets to the carrier board via the J0 and J2 connectors of the VME backplane. The board includes sites for fitting R-C low-pass filters.Optional on-board 5V to 12V DC-DC converters are connected to pins on the RP0/RP2 connectors to facilitate powering the plant side of isolated analogue circuits on IP boards which are mounted on the carrier board.

Construction

The unit is constructed to the VME64x standard, with EMC rear panel, injector/ejector handles, guide pin and slot keying, static discharge protection, hot swap capability, 5-row RP0 and RP2 connectors.

Signal Path

A rear-mounted transition card with two high-density 50-way [SCSI2] connectors accepts all I/O signals and provides direct or conditioned connection provided by pcb jumper settings. The signals connect to the main carrier board according to the VME64x Greenspring pinout for IP module carriers .

Resistor and Capacitor Network for Filtering

The 8201 provides direct or conditioned connection set by PCB jumper to all input signals
(see diagram below). An alternative jumper settings disables the filter for analogue output.

The 1K ohm resistors are matched to 0.01%, 1Meg ohms are ±1%.
No filtering components are fitted for IP sites A and B on delivered boards.
Jumpers J33 to J48 select conditioning for IP site C.
Jumpers J49 to J64 select conditioning for IP site D.
