VTB 8301 Isolated Digital Input Transition Board

  • VME64 extensions / Transition Board
  • Full EMC shielding and insertion/extraction handles
  • RP0 and RP2 connections
  • Handles 64 digital input signals, four input strobes and four output strobes and provides isolation of all signals.
  • Inputs are protected against over-voltage (to 27V) and reverse voltage.
  • Voltage to ensure logic 1 = 3V min. Voltage to ensure logic 0 = 2V max. Logic 1 current = 5mA.
  • Four 50-way SCSI-2 sockets provide ease of connection to four groups of circuitry each with 16 inputs and input/output strobes.

Product Description

The VTB 8301 is a 6U (double height) VME rear I/O transition board, which provides connection to the 8001Digital Input Carrier Board. It optically isolates all digital I/O (64input signals and four I/O strobes), and routes the signals from four 50-way SCSI sockets to the carrier board via the J0 and J2 connectors of the VME backplane. The board features low input current and protection against reverse voltages. An on-board 5V to 12V DC-DC converter is connected to pins on the SCSI connectors to facilitate powering the plant side of the isolators so that signal low-true operation can be used.

Construction

The unit is constructed to the VME64x standard, with EMC rear panel, injector/ejector handles, guide pin and slot keying, static discharge protection, hot swap capability, 5-row RP0 and RP2 connectors.

Signal Path

A rear-mounted transition card with four high-density 50-way [SCSI2] connectors accepts all I/O signals and provides optical isolation. The signals connect to the main carrier board according to the VME64x Greenspring pinout for IP module carriers .
