Description This
a VME64X 19-inch rack-mounting crate, with a horizontally mounted
seven-slot monolithic VME64X backplane, which takes up to seven standard
6U 160 mm cards in front slots (with all three connectors fitted). It has
seven rear-facing 80 mm transition slots, (it will take 160mm transition
cards in an emergency with a small overhang). The
unit is fitted into a 19-inch rack mounting case, which is RFI protected.
It has a single-phase mains driven 440-watt output, power supply. It gives
the following outputs: +3.3 V at 35 A, +5 Volts at 40A, +12 Volts at 10A
and –12 Volts at 6A. Total power must be less than 440 Watts at 35 C
ambient. Specification
The
Crate is 178 mm high, 435 mm wide and 370mm deep. The
power supply is a high efficiency (75%) switching type; noise and ripple
are less than 1% using the EIAJ test method. A two pole, front mount mains
switch controls it. Power
is provided via the IEC 320 connector. An
international 20 x 5 mm fuse mounted on the rear panel protects the crate.
Rated at 5 Amps, (T. HRC 20 x 5 mm type) for 220 to 250 Volt operations.
10 Amps (T. HRC 20x5 mm) type for 100- 115 Volt operations. There is also
an internal power supply fuse, which has no user access The
power supply provides up to a maximum power output of 440 Watts at the
back plane, at up 35C ambient, this reduced to 400 Watts at 50 C There
are four power lines provided: All
the sensed power lines are maintained at +/-1 % over the full line load
conditions, there no minimum load requirement. The +/- 12 volt lines are
+/-1% at the power supply terminals, and +1%-2% at the backplane under
full line load change. The
total load (the sum of V x I on all output lines) must not exceed the
stated power output at the crates actual ambient temperature. There
are front mounted voltage test points, connected to the backplane to test
the power supply, together with LED’s to show that the voltages are
present. There is also a LED to show if the fan fails. The backplane has
connectors to provide additional control outputs and inputs. All power line output
voltages may be adjusted at the factory. Up
to 0.5 volts drop in each power feed circuit to the +3.3 and 5 volt
outputs. Over
voltage protection is set at +120-130%,
Auto restart. Over
current protection is 105% -125% typical; it is a constant current type. Temperature
coefficient is 0.02% /C Inrush
current <40 Amps (cold start). Hold
up -16 mS minimum at full load on any output Isolation:
Input to output 4000Vac. Input to Ground 1500Vac, Output to ground 200Vdc Altitude
3000 meters at 40 C de-rate at 3%/C over 40C max 55C Humidity:
5%-95% RH (non-condensing). Power
supply Shock and vibration 3000 bumps, 10G 16mS half sine wave 6G triaxial
for 15v minutes 10-500Hz, 2G. Safety
Approvals
on the power supply unit: - UL1950, CSA22.2, No950, EN60950, EN61010-1, IEC61010-1, CE marked for LDV, EN60601, UL2601. POWER
SUPPLY MONITOR
There
is a monitor on the fan, and test points for the backplane voltages. A
CANBus monitoring system is being designed, which will be available at
extra cost Special
versions with Mains fail, Global Inhibit, Output Good, signal options can
be offered at extra cost. The
Chassis of the Crate is earthed via the IEC 320. The
power supply outputs are floating as standard. ( see Isolation
specification). BACKPLANE The
backplane is a high-speed strip line monolithic type, made by Bustronic
Inc which incorporates active termination and automatic interrupt and DMA
grant chain linking. Full
details of the backplane are available from the manufacturer Bustronic via
their Web site www.bustronic.com
under VME64X back-planes. We use the M4 screw type with automatic bus
grant.
