CAMAC 94 Dual Signal Repeater Product Description The 94 CAMAC module addresses the problem of interfacing CAMAC to the ’real world’, where there are problems such as signals that need to be optical (for noise reasons), or are in the wrong signal standard, or just the wrong polarity. The unit has high power output drive circuits to buffer signals that have to go to several places and on the optical side, wide range but sensitive input circuits, together with dual, switch selectable, eight steps of optical power drive outputs. Each has a green/red indicator lamp, (LED), which is driven by a pulse stretcher or the DC level. It acts like a logic probe on input, stretching short pulses (optical or electronic) into 100mS visual signals. When only green is showing and the switches are set for normal input polarity there is no signal. The optical/electronic signal repeater module provides conversions between optical and electrical external control signals in CAMAC systems. The module contains two identical signal channels which may have inputs derived from either optical signals or electrical signals to predefined signal standards, the standard being selected by a switch. The input signals will generate parallel electrical and optical outputs to pre–selected signal standards, the signal level and form being selected by a further series of switches. Signal inversion is also provided, also by switch. Visible indication is provided for each repeater to show if signals are passed through a channel. The module responds to a limited set of CAMAC commands to enable signals to be generated locally for test purposes. The repeater is housed in a single width CAMAC module. There is provision to link the two repeater’s circuits together (in the opto input mode only) to give parallel output signals from the top opto input (A0), on all the outputs (4 opto and 2 electronic) for use with multidrop systems.

Performance
Input duration all inputs – 200nS HLL min, 15nS TTL/NIM/ECL min, opto 50nS min. ALL DC max.
There is a small area of printed circuit board laid out as a patch area. It has the track to support input from all 24 write lines via SN74LS14N chips and 24 bit read back via SN7401N chips. The rest of the area is uncommitted, but may be used by 14, 16, 20, 24 pin DIL ICs.
The CAMAC decoder will decode any CAMAC function code and sub–address combination or combinations of up to six types, more are possible with extra logic.
It is based on a Phillips PLS 100N programmable logic circuit, which has all the CAMAC Function, Sub–address and N line input signals to decode in a 40 line array, the decoder (PLS 100) chip is fitted on a socket, to make re–programming simple.
