CAMAC Programmable Pulse Generator Type PPG 97

Product Description

This is a single–width CAMAC module that outputs a pulse train which was pre–programmed for number of pulses, frequency and delay, each time it is triggered by a front panel signal or software command.

The values of the count number, frequency and delay are held in buffer registers which can be overwritten via the dataway. These are transferred to active counters by the ’Load’ signal. ’Load’ can be generated by the front panel clear signal, software command or at the end of a pulse train if a hardware link is made. Once pre–set in this manner, the module is ready to accept a new trigger.

At the end of the pulse train LAM is set which can be used to interrupt the host computer, if LAM is enabled, or tested for by software command to indicate completion of the triggered event.

Front Panel Connector Details

'Trigger' Input trigger pulse. ECL or TTL, positive or negative going. Miinimum pulse width: 5nS. 50 ohms termination.
’Clear’ Input clear pulse. Clears active counters and pre-loads values ready for next trigger. ECL or TTL negative going.
’Ext. Clock’ External clock input waveform. Maximum frequency is 100MHz. ECL or TTL signal. (Selected by frequency value bit 8).
’Pulse’ Output pulse. ECL or TTL positive or negative going. Pulse width according to the mark time for the frequency programmed, eq., 5nS for 100MHz.
’Busy’ Output level set true by ’Trigger’ and remains set until the end of the pulse train. ECL or TTL negative going.
